Calling all owners of CWD in the UK...

I would like to say that I own Princess De Aube @ Pacino.
I was very offended that someone could judge how well socialised my bitch is.
Princess known as Cito at home is a very well balanced Czw she has been to many small local and family dog shows here in the uk.
We attend horse show pony sales and street markets,Cito also goes to dog training.
We are also very proud to say that Cito past the test and was granted a place to be a pets at theropy dog at a very young age.
I have written permission from my council to own my Czw's and my Saarloos so I have NO reason what so ever to hide my dog.
Please be more carefull to have the full facts before making such a statement in future about one of my dogs.

tikaani 26-01-2008 12:07

i have met princess and cito and to tell the truth i couldnt of met two nicer dogs, i was aloud to play with them and at no time were they shy or nasty towards me, i intend goin to see them again real soon as i liked them so much. unless people have met them they shouldnt coment on there temperment i think...

Calling all owners of CWD in the UK...

Hi!

I would like to hear from all owners of pure-bred CWD who live with their dogs in the UK. I have written an article for a UK dog magazine about wolf look-a-like dogs and would like a few comments from owners of genuine CWD explaining what they like about the breed.

I have confirmation from DEFRA that CWD and Saarloos do not need to be licenced and with this in mind if there are more than 10 CWD in the UK the Kennel Club may consider recognition.

Best wishes,

Loup-de-Bretagne

Hi,
Just a piece of friendly advice: be careful about CSV owners who reply to your request. I trust there are honest CSV owners in the UK, but several (naturally not all) who have been writing here are somewhow obssessed with mixing wolf-resembling breeds, involved in suspicious businesses and other activities that would eventually lead to the destruction of the CSV breed.

As far as I know they represent neither the views and intentions of people who are responsible for the breed (i.e. breeders), nor of any official, recognized by FCI, CSV breed clubs, nor of the breed lovers who trully care for it. 8)

Thanks Rona,

Yes I am aware of the situation in the UK and I have had dealings with some people of very doubtful intentions! :( I believe there are a few genuine CWD in the UK and would like to point this out in an the article. The article will also try and differentiate between the cross-breeds and the pedigree CWD and Saarloos.

As it is now clearly legal to own these two wolfdog breeds, it is up to the genuine breed enthusiasts to form a club, keep proper records and with the help of the breed clubs in Europe and the FCI to have the breeds recognised by the UK Kennel Club, otherwise the Uk will remain a disaster area for all wolfdogs.

I have also met some owners of the cross breeds and can say not all are bad people and the dogs are very friendly, though I understand the fears of CWD owners who live outside the UK who think these cross bred dogs may be mis-represented as the real breed. I am also aware of rumours that CWD are being crossed with timber wolves; these dogs are NOT legal in the UK:shock:.
Best wishes,

Loup-de-Bretagne

Hi Tikaani,

Thanks for your reply, may I ask how long you have had your dog/bitch or how old he/she is? Also what attracted you to the breed and what do you like most about the breed?

Best wishes

hi, Defra have excepted the Czechoslovakian wolfdog and the Saarloos with out licence, in fact you can now keep any wolfdog that is F3 and beyond without a licence, my husband has worked hard for this and it is now law in uk. there are 28 pure bred CWD in uk. two litters bred by my husband and I and one by our friend, we are now applying to kennel club to get our registration papers back for our first litter and for the second to be registered, we have 7 PURE CWD from our breedings and no matter what you hear about us regarding cross breeding is completely untrue, my husband could get £1500 for the use of male CWD at stud and has always refused. he stopped breeding programe for CWD as they refused to recognise the breed, but now we will restart with friends from Europe, there are breeders of cross bred CWD in u.k but it is purely for money, both my litters where sired by dogs from Europe and both litters the owners of the stud dogs will confirm this, the people selling and breeding crossbreeds openly advertise on online sites, you will not see any of our dogs in these adverts. it will all backfire on these people now as you can now own a pure bred CWD in uk so soon the cross breeders will be out of buisness. we also hope to have the CWD at discover dogs at crufts, it is now good for all CACIB winners in Europe as you can now bring your dogs to crufts and really let the breed be seen. thank you for your time regards mandy and paul winder BREEDERS OF PURE BRED CWD and soon with K.C. REGISTRATIONS...............

I am very curious who the 28 CSWs are in the UK (even if they are not officially registered yet). I believe sometime back you also said you sold some dogs to the US - I'd be interested in knowing where and who those dogs are as well.

Thank you.

What would you like to know then? give me an idea of the sort of information you would like and ill be more than happy to help, after all the more we get the CWD recognised over here the better:)

loup-de-bretagne 12-11-2008 19:59

Hi tikaani

what attracted you to the breed? Have you had other dogs and if so would you say the CWD is not really suitable as a first dog? Since you had your dog have you met many other owners in the UK.

I am sorry to start another argument thread! If those owners of the 28 dogs in the UK got together and started a club they would be in a strong position with the Kennel Club.

Best wishes.

loup-de-bretagne 13-11-2008 14:09

what a crowd!

I am out of time with this one so I will not waste any more of anyones time. Since I started researching this article I have been called names, had suspicious emails and interviewed a CWD owner who turned out to be abusing their dog (now deleted). In fact the only professional and courtious help came from two breeders of the cross breeds.

I will have to admit that as the owner of two wolfdogs myself I find this worrying. Are all wolfdog owners so petty? Other dog owners seem to manage to get along just fine. In my working life I have had to deal with all sorts of people but wolfdog people seem to take the biscuit.

hi yes there are some very funny people who take the Pi.s on this site, the CWD are all fine in uk, and we will have our registrations very soon, people in uk have worked very hard, we have taken 6 yrs to get the law changed, but you still get people here taking the pis,, out of our unregistered dogs, there are 28 CWD in uk and all pure bred, all founder stock where imported from Europe, we do keep contact and will all gether at crufts this year, point is there are people who dont want this reed in uk, i dont think i need to mention them as i am sure you know, sorry people can not be more nice to you but this is life on this site, i told this site i dont have CWD, infact i have 7 pure bred CWD , I have no cross bred CWD as i am totaly against it, and i have good people from all over europe that know me and visit my home to see my dogs, as i visit them in summer months, so the breed is doing well, i myself have seen some cross bred dogs that look o.k. and have good temperaments, but what other people do i am not accountable for. I to write articles on the breed in uk mags, good luck with your article regards paul winder, any time in uk calls us..

Nebulosa 13-11-2008 18:36

Hi Loup_de_Bretagne
Unhaplly CzW on UK seems that pass for serious problems, now that you don't have the DEFRA problems, you will have problems with mixes because the bad work that had been done these few years CzW are in UK.
before make the registration of the breed, I ask you please do the DNA tests for confirme if everydog are pure, unhaplly the breed was openly mixed with Grey wolf hybrids, Tamaskan, Utonagens and so on, so, I don't wonder if high amount of suposed CzW that live there are mixes.
The breed already pass for some problems, introducing mixes will only cause more problems for the breed, and I'm sure you don't want that.
So, please, before registration make DNA tests.
Please, read before the topic's about UK breeding and maybe you will have idea about the problem the breed pass in UK.
