He looks purebred German Shepherd Dog to me, of the 'maskless variety.'
Here is an intresting list of all the types of GSD and GSD crosses out there [including our own CsV.]

http://www.shawlein.com/The_Standard...eed_Types.html

They say:
"Maskless Shepherd. This is a colour variant only, characterized by a lack of the typical black mask, and often showing faded or "bright" points of tan on the muzzle, chest and feet. It can also be seen in sable and bicolour patterns. While common in English lines prior to WW1, it is not typical of any contemproray bloodline. White markings are indicative of fading pigmentation, but are not evidence of wolf blood, although wolf crosses will often show similar colouration. A black mask gives the typical GSD expression, and is generally required by most judges, but the lack of it is not strictly speaking a sign of fading colour."

He had seven brothers who were also adopted but all have been put to sleep as they were a bit out of control.
Six brothers put to sleep before two year of age, that do not sonds like purebred GSD to me

Best regards / Mikael

If they were working lines and had a hard temperament with inexperienced owners - I can see it.

Many people think that if the dog is too much for them it'll be too much for everyone so they will generally put it down as opposed to trying to rehab / train it.

I agree with Draggar - and it doesn't have to be working temperament.

Maybe they just ended up with idiot owners, too.

Looks like gsd siberian husky mix. The smaller head is a sign for it, I would say.
